Top World News — October 12, Evening

Good evening. Monday brought no new kinetic attacks in the Saudi–Houthi confrontation, but the disruption kept widening: Riyadh’s airport suspension was extended indefinitely, Gulf officials rallied publicly behind the kingdom, oil held above $100 on shipping risk, and crypto markets consolidated ahead of a data-heavy week led by tonight’s XRP treasury listing on Nasdaq and Wednesday’s US inflation report.

Riyadh airport suspension extended indefinitely as Gulf rallies behind Saudi Arabia

Saudi civil aviation authorities extended the suspension of operations at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport indefinitely, announcing no resume date — going further than the earlier extension to Monday evening. Flight disruptions widened across the kingdom, with more than one-third of all Saudi flights not operating on Monday. In a new diplomatic marker, UAE Presidential Diplomatic Adviser Dr Anwar Gargash called for renewed Gulf security and defence cooperation, saying attacks on Saudi Arabia undermine the security of the UAE and all Gulf states. No new kinetic attacks were reported in the monitoring window.

Bitcoin consolidates near $83,700 as small-cap altcoins lead

Bitcoin traded around $83,700–84,155, up roughly 1%, holding just below the $83,500–84,000 band on thin weekend volume. Ether rose to about $2,540–2,560, XRP to ~$1.40 and Solana to ~$112. Smaller coins outperformed — the CoinDesk 80 index gained 3% against 1.2% for the CoinDesk 5. The Fear & Greed index stood at 58 (neutral). ETF flows remain weak: last week’s Bitcoin ETF outflows of $681 million were the largest since June, Ether ETFs logged a ninth straight session of outflows, and combined five-session outflows from October 5–9 reached $1.221 billion. Tonight at about 18:30 PKT, Evernorth’s XRP treasury company debuts on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN — a 473-million-XRP plus $300-million-cash treasury — with its closing-bell ceremony set for October 14.

Oil holds above $100 as Russian diesel deal pressures prices

Oil prices held firm with Brent around $103.60, WTI at $90.52 and Murban at $110.60. Expectations of new Russian diesel supplies — 300,000 tons immediately, 500,000 tons in November and 1 million tonnes after — pressed prices lower, with ICE gasoil futures down 3% to $1,436 a tonne. Persistent tanker-attack risk in the Strait of Hormuz kept a war premium in prices, holding Brent above the $100 mark.

Market snapshot

BTC ~$83,700–84,000, ETH ~$2,540–2,560, XRP ~$1.40, SOL ~$112; Fear & Greed 58 (neutral). Brent $103.6, WTI $90.52. Next catalysts: tonight’s XRPN Nasdaq debut (~18:30 PKT); October 14 US CPI (headline expected ~3.7%) plus the XRPN bell ceremony; October 15 PPI; October 28 FOMC; October 15–16 EU summit; November 3 US midterms.
